Going Oslo

If this looks a little unclear, let me clarify. Im at the airport in Oslo, waiting for my luggage by the belt . I see these boxes cracked open coming down the belt and wonder what's in them. I take a closer look. Its food. Dried food. And its many of them. Turns out it's a asian family travelling to Norway who has been warned about the cost of living. So they brought food with them. Wow.
Gallery Opening

Friday October 23 was the opening night for the Storck Gallery in Oslo. It's my fathers project, and one that I have been heavily roped into myself. Lots of pre-opening turbulence. Mainly to do with typefaces. But it's open now and things are on track. Do get in touch if you have work you think is exhibition worthy.

Going to the Met

Took my kids to The Metropolitan Museum. It was pleasing to see Documenta typerface hanging at the main entrance. Although we spent most of the time in arms and armour we did have a quick peek at some of our graphics. For the first time.
Going to the Met

The fact that visitors read the labels is a good sign.
A new home

Finally and again finally the movers arrived with our stuff. I cannot express my happiness for getting out of the hotel. Time to move on with life and work. This will for the time being be the new BotezCo LTD headquarters.
A new home

Our new living room.
A new home

With a sunny roofdeck. We have been very lucky to find a place that ticked most of the boxes in under 3 days. Too bad it took a month to get papers ready.
Daddy Daycare

I have lately been spending my entire time with the kids. And staying in a 1 bed hotel room you can only imagine the cabin fever that kicks in. So we have been doingh manhattan, playground style. First stop was MOMA. They have a kindof nice sculpture garden. Great climing towers. Had fun there for about 30 min until the guard came storming over shouting at Albin.
Daddy Daycare

Great installation where everyones height was written on the wall. Including my monkeyes.
Daddy Daycare

Some place midtown east had this monstersized hello kitty metal sculptures. No guard this time..
Daddy Daycare

Albin in the centre of Central park. Climbing with girls is so boring. Poor little Suki, couldgnt even reach up to the lowest point.
Daddy Daycare

This is where we spent most of our days. South western playground in Central Park. They had everything, including a big rock perfect for climbing. We had some really hot days where they had turned on the fountains. Endless fun.
Hotello

From our hotel terrace. Wedged between rooftops and gigantic aircon/ventilatiion systems. The noiselevel there made it impossible to enjoy. Even during the middle of the night.
Empty House

Our home in london is now empty. Tennants move in next month so lets hope no squatters come around. It';s strange to see the house empty. Seems like we have been there forever yet its only two years.
Last Live

We threw a final gig in Charleys basement before my departure. By the time I had finished clearing our house, I had one hour left to rig the entire system before the doors opened.
Last Live

And they all came to see. Kindof. It's all part of a gallery opening as well.

Last Rehearsal

Last rehersal, and for the first time we did live percussion. Charley got this old edmulsion bucket that he turned up side down. With some old pencils and sticks combined with software filters etc this all sounded like real advanced. After all that time spent making drummin software...
Last Rehearsal

And this is what Im leaving behind. I could cry...
Blame her

My wife the genious has landed a new job. This means we will be moving to New York. In less than 6 weeks we will be living on Manhattan. Impressive, exiting and sad.
Movie night
On Thursday the 2nd we had a movie night at #0. Warming up with a proper smoke-out-meatfest, we rounded up for the screening at 11. Selection by Adam one of Lukes friends. 3 Micky Jack vids, Herzog's God's Angry Man and finally Monsieur Godard's Pierot le Fou. By 1 I was fast asleep. Got a second wind at 1.20, but the movie ended up corrupting about 1.35 so we called it a day. Got on my bike, fell off, hurt my backbone and rode home. In bed by 2.30.
Prehistoric printshop
After many months of back and forth the Prehistoric Man All About album artwork is finally ready. It took some two evenings to print. Using the studio print facility I have to admit my old skills are very rusty. Nevertheless, the final print came out stunning. Rough and in true prehistoric fashion. Check the full picture session.
Flooding
It takes a long time to move in properly. Its taken me 3 months to put up shelves. And it's done only after the warhouse got flooded by the terencial rain in the recent weeks. Eventually things are off the floor. And with a drying rack I think we are prepared to meet any revelation storm.
A few old things
There is something satisfying about bringing old things to use. This Belfast sink was rescued from our house when we renovated. My wife wanted it out but I hung on to it. For a while it was a beer cooler, then a chimney for the smokepit bbq in our garden, and now finally its back in use as a sink, replacing the massive stainless steel monster we used to have. Just a bit more plumbin and it will be up and runnin.
Prehistoric performance
The Prehistoric Man did a recent performance at the Macbeth in Hoxton Street, London. Tweaking the sounds on the higher frequency devices from their all valve psychoacoustic rig; The Octophonic Orchestra, the played into the early hours of the morning, 29th-30th of April. The group are currently working on their second album, ready for release this autumn.
Bike on a budget
While on trial in Oslo I got immensly bored with taking the tram. I decided to get a bike. With only £50 in my pocket I was told of a guy who sells bikes from a backstreet. I went there but the shop was closed. I called the number on the window and was told to come back on a thursday between 4 and 6. This turned out to be the shop's official opening hours! Returning one week later it turned out I could only afford this bike, which was ok for me as I like old things. I even had change left for beers. Check out the old tyres
